September 26th - Saturday, September 29th North Conway, NH Director: Dave Carey
Thursday September 26th:
Guys met at Geno’s place in Braintree for the trip up. Gerry flew in from Florida.
Most of the guys showed up to check in at Hotel Greeno and to prep for the weekend.
Not a heck of a lot going on but just another 1st night drink-a-thong of which a couple (ok, 3) of brothers took it to another, their own, level of abuse heading to a few micro brews at Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery in North Conway. Needless to say, it wasn’t necessarily a long night but I guess it seemed like one to them. Live Free or Die, I guess.
Oh, we should remember to have instructions as to how to turn on the TV.
Thursday notable notes:
- Billy, Gut, Gerry drinking problem?
Friday September 27th:
Golf at Wentworth Golf Club then beverages afterwards at Madeline’s Deli. Not actually sure if we met Madeline or not, but looking over the aged clientele, we just may have.
The brothers spend the better part of the afternoon/early evening enjoying the sun and cold beverages. We met a few locals (Karen, “Ma” Pat, Lucy the dog, etc). Things were going well until Gerry threw a beer can at other brothers… ok, time to move on. Headed back to the Greene condo in Intervale where we shared pizzas and additional drinks. Live Free or Die.
Dave purchased BHS ABC shirts for everyone.
Later, at bedtime, we all broke up and went to each other’s bedroom. At least that’s what was planned. It seems Brother Spanky decided to lay down wherever he wanted and took over another spot previously claimed by brother; Dave. Oops. Guess that was not the right thing to do (although it was a queen size and he could have slid right in, as long as at least 1 foot remained on the ground all night). Live Free or Die.
Friday notable notes:
- “Ma” Pat & Karen
- Lucy
- Beer can toss
- EJ bed acquisition/steal
- Billy, Gut, Gerry drinking problem?
- Pizza?
- BHS ABC shirts
- Fitzy’s well being
Saturday September 28th
Saturday started early. Gerry woke up at 3:30am and proceeded to wake Billy up; who, in turn woke the rest of the floor up at that time. Great start to an already long planned day.
EJ, Bobby and Ernie headed off to Cathedral Ledge while waiting for the other campers to get up.
Later, at Breakfast, (and in between complaining about his sleeping arrangement) Dave (and Gene) cooked scrambled eggs, bacon and toast for the group. Great job.
Billy, Gut and Gerry decided to scamper out to get their own breakfast and some shopping in. As soon as they got back, they decided to jump into their tighty-whiteys and go for a swim at a local club. Thanks for the info and invite for others to join in…. not.
While the tighty-whitey boys were getting it on, the remaining brothers headed off the Mt. Washington Hotel (at the foot of the Cog Railway and Mt. Washington) for a couple of beverages before we took on the Cog Railway. As soon as the tighty-whitey boys showed up, it was time to head out to the Cog.
The Cog Railway is a 1 hour Train ride up Mt. Washington. At the foot of the mountain it was 79 degrees and sunny. At the top of the mountain it was 55 degree, cloudy and raining. This didn’t prevent us from having fun, but did limit us to photos. Notes from the Cog ride: Screaming babies, Screaming announcement/site seeing from the diminutive brake woman, and really tight seating.
Up top, we enjoyed great chili. And, saw some clouds.
Ride back down was uneventful but rather enjoyable at this “brakeman” did not speak to the passengers and allowed us to a relatively quiet return trip.
Back at the condo, Dave organized a great Italian dinner… chicken parmesian, angel hair pasta, salad, garlic bread, ice cream sandwiches and oreo cookies. After dinner, things quieted down and the brothers spent time talking and calling it an evening relatively early.
Spanky moved on to another open bed (there were 3) which enabled Dave to peacefully rest by himself.
Geno decided to head home after dinner.
Saturday notable notes:
- Tighty-whitey swim
- Cathedral Mountain
- Mt. Washington Hotel porch
- Tight Cog Railway ride
- Screaming babies on ride up
- Ear piercing commentating from brake-woman
- Billy & Gut drinking problem?
- Italian dinner
- Rain and Clouds
- Chilli
Sunday September 29th
Got up early once again and after coffee in the condo, we decided to grab breakfast at the Red Fox restaurant where there was a fantastic breakfast buffet spread. Met up with “Ma” Pat working at the restaurant. Shana was our bartender.
I should mention that Dave and Clanga (and others) spent the majority of the morning cleaning the condo. Fantastic job!
After breakfast (and watching Gerry hit the buffet line at least 4 times), we cashed out and some of the brothers headed home, while others stuck around to watch the Patriots game.
Should seriously mention that Dave’s planning and Mike’s accommodations were greatly appreciated!!!!
Sunday notable notes:
- “Ma” Pat
- Shana, the bartender
- Red Fox buffet
- Ernie is next years Captain
Thanks for stopping by! Let’s work on getting most of the brothers out of the Doghouse!
