2011 Camping Weekend
Boca Raton, Florida

Thursday September 22:
Jet Blue flight from Boston to Fort Lauderdale landed at about 8:30 pm with 7 of our Bostonian ABC fellows. (EJ, Gerry, Fitzy, Geno, Dave, Gut, Billy)
Brother Rick drove down from North Carolina and Brother Clance flew down the night before.
After picking up a couple of rental vans (Brother Clance met us here), we headed over to Duffy’s Bar in Boca to set the mood, and to meet up with Rick and Pete.

We filled our guts (no relation to Brian) with crap and 34 oz beers (2 for 1 night).  Rick and Pete arrived.

Got to Boca Raton Resort, checked into our rooms and went to the hotel bar.

Friday September 23:
Woke up early and ate breakfast buffet.   We met for golf at around 11 am.  Course was superb.  We had 1 foursome and 2 threesomes. Gut won the closet to the pin but when the local pro couldn’t find him, we described what he looked like and the pro went up to Gerry and thought he was Gut and proceeded to congradulate him on his win.  Very hot and humid day.   Finished up around 3 or 4 pm.
Back to hotel to clean up and then over to Petes house for a cookout.  We let Clance take his nap, as he arrived a couple of hours later.
Met Pete and the lovely Lee, plus their son as well as their dog Cody.  Food was spectacular, drinks were plenty, pool was warm and refreshing, and Ricky and Clance were still talking politics late into the night.   Billy was overly quiet the entire day, only to hear he had jock itch or he was having his period.  who knew?
After leaving Petes (and a long day) we went back to the hotel bar... well, some of us did.

Saturday September 24:
Woke up early to “play croquet”, as Gerry announced to everyone.  Didn’t happen, so we all went to breakfast to watch him devour the buffet.  Geez, get a grip.
Had some time to kill so a few of us drove to view a relative of Guts new home literally across the street from the hotel... nice place, in a beautiful community.
Still had time to kill so we went over to the Boca Raton Beach Resort and took a walk around.  Great resort.
ok, so now its about 11 am and we have a date to boat along the intercoastal waterway, then out to the ocean and do some fishing and wakeboarding.
Wow, what a boat!  a 48’ Sea Ray Cabin Cruiser!  OMG.
So we cruised the intercoastal and saw how the other side lives (except Fitzy and Billy).
Oh, I should point out that Brother Billy was back as his usual self... he ate something that didn’t agree with him the other day.   Whatever... we all do.
We went into the ocean for about 10-15 miles, and it was a clear sunny 80 degree day.  we trolled for awhile and did end up getting 2 Mahi’s... (videos coming).  We then took a quick dip in the ocean plus had some fun wake boarding...  Gut tried first but had difficulty getting up on the board, Gerry was next, then Dave and Ricky.  Everyone else just sat back and watched and cheered.  (Videos here)
We got back and went to the pool and then the outside bar.
A few hours later we decided to meet and get some food, so we went to a great Mexican restaurant in town.
We waited a while for seats but of course we made it to the bar.  And, of course we met up with 4 locals (female) who, not by coincidence, found a liking to Gut.  As a matter of fact that after we sat down, they sat next to us and kept us entertained by calling out to Gut every once in a while.  Lucky guy.
Our meal was great, Gerry was loud, and the entire time was just superb.
After we ate we went down the block to an Irish pub where we stayed for about 2 or 3 hours and watched a band play as well as the plentiful women dance.
Oh, I should point out... there was a very small mens room with an attendant in it...  to which, one can imagine, got his kicks watching everyone do their business.  Anyway, when I was in there, soon billy came in and then Gut.  Well on top of this guy watching us, there were a whole slew of perfume/cologne as well.  And, what does Billy do?  He waits for Gut to start his business and then douses him with something that smelled like High Karate.  It was awesome.  Good to have Billy back.
We left that place pretty late and then went back to the hotel bar to cap off the evening...
we met one of the wait staff who took care of us all night.   I think we cleared the place around 1:30 am.
Phew.

Sunday September 25:
while 6 guys went golfing again, 4 of us just hung out by the pool and relaxed.  We then met up with the golfers for lunch to watch the Pats game (which they lost to the Bills).  We ate at the clubhouse and had a fantastic meal (once again).
We left the hotel at around 2:30 pm to head to the airport home to Boston.

Oh, the picture to the right... its what Pete thought of when he saw EJ and his hair.
