2021

ABC Week End September 9 - September 11. Campton NH, Waterville Valley.

Thursday, arrive 4:00 PM

Cocktails 4:00 PM+
Spent the evening at JJ Sullivan’s Irish Pub eating and drinking, and spending time with the Brothers who made this years trip.  Shout out to our bartender KALLI.  (didn’t think we’d remeber you, eh?)

Attendees this year:  EJ, Ernie, Bobby, Spuff, Billy, Ken (from Chicago), Ricky (From NC), Geno, Clanga and Davy.

MIA: Fitzy, Clance, Tim, Jon, Mike, Vineyard Jim, Gut, Jerry, Peter

Kalli threw EJ a curve when he and Bob showed up later than the group and was quick to point out (7pm) that this was last call for the evening.  it wasn’t; but you shoulda see the look on EJ’s face.  Then she was quick to hand him the bar bill at the time to close out... something like $350.   Shortly thereafter she apologized about the last call thing and EJ went on to dismantle a few beers on his own.

Not sure what time we left there, but had to be after 9pm.

Off to the house.   Big ass home, but a bit dated.  shitload of beds, 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, billiard table and huge deck overlooking Waterville Valley.

Uneventful evening at the house, just more drinking and spending time with the Brothers.

Friday Morning
Bacon, more Bacon and yet more Bacon at the house.  Gene put out a great breakfast spread (once again) and everyone, for the first time in history, was busy eating and no one said a word.  Nice and quiet meal.

Friday Afternoon
Golf at White Mountain Golf Course... well, everyone but Bob and EJ who spent the time running up and down the Kancamangus Highway.  We all met at the course afterwards and then over to Mad River Tavern for a quick (not really) beer and appetizers.   Food wasn’t that good, but they coulda served us cardboars and we woulda ate it.  Come to think of it... it might have been cardboard with some cheese on top.

Anyway, after consuming quite of a few, we went back to the house to be served PIAIIA (PAIELLA).   Gene, once again, cooked up this specialty.  It had to be his best to date.  I have no problem going on the record and making this a staple for our meals for future ABC Weekends.  It was that good.

Anyway, we spent the evening drinking and listening to Billy, Dave, Kenny, Ernie and Ricky talk (I mean yell).  yup, nothings changed.  Oh, later on we were welcomed with Ernies “Samurai Warrier” cutting of the watermelon.  See video over to the right.  Pretty funny stuff here.

Saturday AM
Breakfast by Ernie and I think Dave.  Good stuff, again.

The rest of the day we spent at the Community Center.... drinking (of course) and spending time at the pool.  Oh, a few brothers played Pickle Ball, while Dave and EJ tried to come up with a whiffleball game with a couple of golf clubs.

Notable events:

  • EJ getting into a conversation with a couple of ruffians from Fall River, that coulda ended up bad.
  • The Lady in white... Fenway Citgo cap, Duke B’ball son & Ricky
  • the Bartender who wouldn’t let us carry out our beer to the pool and insisted that she had to open each beer herself... well, that didn’t work out.
  • Dave giving EJ a couple of brushbacks during a relaxing “whiffleball” game
  • Bobby dominating Pickle Ball
  • Ernie being Ernie
  • Spuff announcing his fantasy of once being called “a younger Warren Beatty”.  Really?
  • Fat Lives Matter campaign was established.

Back to the house we (go figure) drank some more, and decided to stay in and order pizzas.  Good call.

Saturday night
Pizza night.   Great stuff.  Great time on the deck, EJ trying to get Ernie to play a game of game tongue hockey: picking up Chedder Gold Fish.  Didn’t work out.

Later in the evening, Ernie pulled off his Samurai Warrier on an innocent Watermelon.

Sunday AM
Woke up.

Voted Bob as our next 2022 President.

Went home.

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE:  To the Brothers who cancelled late this season, and to all future attendees... if you’ve committed to attend and then only to back out, then you will be asked to pay a minimum of $200.  Planning the venue, and events must be made ahead of time based on the numbers of committed Brothers.  To back out after these arrangements puts unnecessary operational pressure (Financial and organizational) on the attending Brothers to cover.  Thank you.

(More to come, as soon as I shake off the cobwebs).

GREAT JOB ERNIE!!!
